What is a pet behavior consultation?

In a behavior consultation, I will visit your home and meet with you, family members, and the family’s pets. I will make behavioral assessments of your pet and determine the best path of action to reduce or eliminate the behavior problem in question.

How long do visits last?

1 to 2 hours, depending on the animal and the complexity of the problem.

What happens in a behavior consultation?

I will take a full history of your pet, assess the pet and behavior in question, and develop a behavior plan for us to work through together.

Where do you provide behavior consultations?

Boulder, Denver, and surrounding areas subject to availability.

Do you accept all applications for behavior consultations?

I accept the majority of applications, but if I feel I would be unable to provide the help you need I can refer you to other local experts.

UPDATE: I am currently only accepting feline clients.

What species of animals do you see?

Currently, I provide consultations for cats and dogs. I will accept other species on a case-by-case basis, usually at a discounted price.

How many visits do owners typically need?

It depends, but several visits may be needed to determine what is necessary to reduce or eliminate the behavior problem in question.

Does the consultation price include follow-up communication?

Yes, the consultation price includes 6 months of email follow-up. There is a fee for an additional home visit.

Can you guarantee my pet’s behavior problem will be solved?

No. Behaviors are expressed for a variety of reasons that I cannot control (environmental, etc.) I will provide you with the tools necessary to improve a behavior and help you during this process but much of the improvement is dependent on the owner to implement.

When should I expect to see results?

Depending on the issue in question, improvement may occur within a few days to a few months.
